The UW HealthyGen Center works to enhance the resilience of older adults within a multigenerational context, promote social justice, and reduce health disparities of older adults in vulnerable and hard to reach communities, including LGBTQ elders, elders of color, veterans and other hard to reach populations. Through its community based collaborative work, the Center promotes multi-generational health and longevity in our increasingly diverse society. HealthyGen Center, in partnership with Generations Aging with Pride, is developing the Gen Pride Center Senior Hub throughout King County.
The UW School of Social Work and HealthGen Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager.
The HealthyGen Center Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and administration of the HealthyGen Center (the Center).
• Overall leadership, administration, and coordination of the Center. This includes: meet reporting and procedural requirements and comply with UW, county, state, federal, and sponsoring-agency rules and regulations; meet Human Subjects requirements; meet audit standards; develop and monitor budgets; develop Center reports; maintain and enhance the HealthyGen Center goals and priorities; serve on the Institute leadership team; and ensure and improve promotion and branding of Center activities.
• Oversee program development and evaluation of evidence-based and best practices in programming and training to promote the health and well-being of hard to reach populations, including LGBTQ elders, racial and ethnic minorities, veterans, and those experiencing housing and economic insecurity; supervise and evaluate the performance of Programming and Training Coordinator; and deliver organizational training to professionals and others.
• Develop funding proposals and grant applications; monitor and review potential funding opportunities.
• Engage with Center and community-based stakeholders through participation in meetings, networks, and other professional engagement opportunities.
• Other responsibilities as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health/Human Services, Social Work, Gerontology, Public Administration, or related field
• Two to three years of professional work experience in center or project management, administration, financial management or research coordination.
• Experience working with marginalized communities and vulnerable adults.
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to work intensively under high pressure around project deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to develop effective problem-solving strategies.
• Supervisory and leadership experience.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work autonomously and part of a team
• Experience with MS Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to exercise skilled and informed judgment with regard to research ethics, integrity and ability to deal with sensitive populations, such as older adults.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology or related field.
• Experience working with LGBTQ older adults.
• Experience with UW financial and administrative systems.
• Experience with data management systems such as REDCap
