Description of Position 

GSBA has an excellent opportunity for a Marketing and Communications Specialist. Qualified applicants will be skilled in project management and creating/generating digital communications. This position is based in Seattle and reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. GSBA and the GSBA Scholarship & Education Fund have a $3.2 million operating budget with 14 full-time employees. It is governed by a 30-member Board of Directors. 

Position Summary  

The Marketing and Communications Specialist project manages the production and implementation of digital assets for GSBA, particularly email communications and website updates for the entire organization. This position project manages the building and implementation of marketing and communications campaigns for all of our programs including the GSBA Scholarship and Education Fund, Capitol Hill Business Alliance, TravelOut Seattle, special events, fundraising and more. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Organize, plan, and coordinate activities, including follow-through with stakeholders engaged in preparing material for electronic publications, including but not limited to producing emails and updating the website. Working with stakeholders includes writers (in-house and freelancers), editors, designers and department heads. 

  • Collaborate with members of the Marketing, Fundraising, Membership and Events teams to build marketing, stewardship, and communications emails. Build, send, evaluate between 2-4 unique emails per week. 

  • Coordinate website updates including making sure the homepage, calendar and all other areas of the website and blog are kept current.   

  • Assisting the Director of Marketing and Communications with collection and creation of membership stories, social media and graphics. 

  • Collaborate with other Marketing Department staff on projects, special events, and related activities. 

Professional Qualifications 

  • 2-4 years of related marketing or transferrable work experience 

  • Demonstrated successful project management experience, at least two to three years of experience desired. 

  • The ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders whose work is necessary to complete the production of communications on deadlines. 

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple schedules and changing deadlines and priorities among multiple parties with competing priorities. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills. Familiarity with AP Style Guide and Chicago Manual of Style a plus. 

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook.) 

  • Experience with Constant Contact (or other online email software) and Wordpress websites strongly desired. 

  • Must be able to set priorities, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, and successfully meet firm deadlines. 

  • Ability to establish working relationships and interact effectively with a wide range of people internally and externally 

  • Ability to take initiative, manage time, stay organized and work independently as well as collaboratively. 

Compensation & Benefits: 

The full-time annual salary range will be $60-$65k 

Reports To: This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. 


Compensation & Benefits 

Salary is $60,000-$65,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Excellent employer paid benefits includes paid vacation, sick leave, medical, dental, and short-term disability insurance and option to invest in an individual retirement account with an employer match.
