Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit, unified adult cancer care and research center that is clinically integrated with UW Medicine, a world leader in clinical care, research and learning. The first National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in the Pacific Northwest, Fred Hutch’s global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy, and COVID-19 vaccines has confirmed our reputation as one of the world’s leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy, and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. The Director, Talent Acquisition leads Talent Acquisition operations and supports practices to achieve the executive, faculty and staffing objectives of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Talent Acquisition team that supports executive, faculty, clinical, technical, administrative, and scientific staff recruitment to ensure operational best practices and data insights that drive strong performance.
  • Align organizational objectives to recruitment activities, including sourcing, interviewing, compliance, and reporting.
  • Promote and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion talent initiatives and principles into the Talent Acquisition strategy.
  • Maintain staff and faculty recruitment systems and ensure best practices for candidate experience, compliance, and tracking.
  • Work with leadership to facilitate executive search firm selection and management of searches.
  • Develop standard operating procedures to provide consistency and efficiency across the Talent Acquisition teams.
  • Mentor and develop Talent Acquisition staff. Maintain regular team meetings and 1:1s.
  • Manage Talent Acquisition budgets and recruitment spend for advertising and events.
  • Collaborate with HR partners on department initiatives and new projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition.
  • 7+ years of experience leading Talent Acquisition teams.
  • Proven experience managing Talent Acquisition teams and responsibility for Talent Acquisition across all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and implementing diversity and inclusion recruitment strategies.
  • Strong operational background with the ability to track, prioritize, and lead multiple projects and teams, implement efficient workflows, and drive accountability.
  • Experience generating organization and Talent Acquisition insights through talent acquisition data and reporting to support Talent Acquisition activities and goals.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills are essential. 
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building skills with partners across the organization.
  • Extensive experience developing individuals and teams.
  • Ability to obtain successful outcomes by identifying new and creative ways of solving problems, approaching workflows, and addressing challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant federal and state labor and employment laws.

 

In addition to job duties at Fred Hutch, this position also requires access to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which requires COVID-19 vaccination without exceptions.
Accordingly, as a condition of employment for this Fred Hutch position, newly hired employees must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.
