The Ken Birdwell Foundation (‘KBF’) is looking for an Engagement Officer to guide local nonprofits through the Foundation’s due-diligence process. You will report to the Seattle Program Director and play a vital role in building new relationships with nonprofit partners while leading KBF’s values-aligned organizational analysis.

As the Engagement Officer, your role is to first and foremost establish an honest and supportive relationship with potential nonprofit partners. You will be responsible for researching and recording information on local nonprofits, initiating introductions, sharing and gathering documents, facilitating communications with third-party collaborators, organizing small events, conducting site visits, hosting meetings, and presenting findings to KBF’s Advisory Board. Your daily tasks will include: using project management software, researching organizations and tracking down introductions to their leadership, responding to email, attending grantee and networking events, communicating and advocating for KBF’s process, authoring reports, presenting findings, and generally seeing that nonprofits are supported and well communicated with as you guide them through KBF’s due-diligence process.

We're looking for an Engagement Officer who is:

You are well qualified if you have:

  • 10+ years of professional work experience in nonprofit leadership, program evaluation and/or as a nonprofit consultant

  • Deep roots and/or a continued commitment to an inclusive and thriving Seattle Area

  • Extensive experience working with culturally, economically, and racially diverse groups

  • A high level of comfort presenting in front of groups of people

  • Strong computer and Internet-based research skills including expertise using:

    • Spreadsheets, presentation software, project management tools, and collaborative documents

  • The ability to commit to frequent regional travel and limited amounts of domestic travel

  • Experience working independently and with minimal oversight

  • Proficiency in a non-English language(s) is a plus
