Board Recruitment

Girls on the Run of Snohomish County
Rachel Cargle, founder of The Loveland Foundation , marched in the 2017 Women’s March with a sign that read “If You Don’t Fight For All Women You Fight For No Women.” We know that feminism does not work without intersectionality. This quote is powerful for our team at Girls on the Run of Snohomish County because we are not doing enough to dismantle systems of white supremacy that shape our world. As we work to educate our staff and board, dismantle and change policies and procedures in our
operation that perpetuate racist systems, and use our platform to amplify Black, Indigienous, LGBTQAI+, disabled, and other marginalized voices, we also need to take concrete actions within our organization.

One place we can make change right away is on our Board of Directors. While our small non-profit has a hands-on board that is comprised of all women, we know that it's makeup is not representative of the communities we serve. We can not fully serve our girls without changing the make-up of our leadership

We are looking to recruit 3-5 new board members who bring skills in fundraising, event planning, non-profit management, communications, finance, and youth development. We strongly encourage women who are Black, Indigenous, Latina, non-white, disabled, and/or members of the LBGTQIA+ community to apply.

We serve all of Snohomish County and we encourage people in all areas of the county to apply. No previous board experience is necessary. All board members need to show a commitment to our mission of inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident! We are committed to making our meetings accessible to all. We provide extensive training, on-going professional development opportunities, and lots of options for how to support the organization.
