The auction lets you join the fun and bid on items that you need to help you survive and thrive during the pandemic. Proceeds raised at EQUALUX directly benefit the GSBA Scholarship Fund, the oldest and one of the largest LGBTQ scholarship programs in the country. Since its founding in 1990, the GSBA Scholarship Fund has invested over $4.4 million in LGBTQ+ students who exemplify leadership potential, strong academic ability, and community involvement and dedication. The scholarship program works to empower students with marginalized intersectional identities within the LGBTQ community and provides not only financial support for LGBTQ+ students, but a network of support, skills-based workshops, and leadership training. In 2020, $600,000 has been invested in 60 LGBTQ and allied students.
The 60 scholars in the 2020 cohort are:
- 68% Black, Indigenous, and people of color
- 47% First generation to attend college
- 44% Transgender and/or gender-diverse
- 35% Have lived below the poverty level
- 27% Have experienced homelessness
