Program Overview

The GSBA LGBTQ+ Leadership Institute is an in-person, 10-month professional development program designed to help LGBTQ+ and allied leaders grow their impact. Through monthly sessions in Seattle, participants work with expert instructors, complete an Insights Discovery assessment, and apply practical tools to real challenges at work and in the community.

Grounded in equity and inclusion, the Institute strengthens core leadership skills—communication, team engagement, decision-making, and financial acumen—while prioritizing well-being and sustainability. Graduates join a supportive alumni network across sectors and career stages.

Who is this for?

The GSBA LGBTQ+ Leadership Institute is for emerging and mid-career leaders across business, nonprofit, and public sectors. It’s for managers who want to better engage their teams, founders who want to grow their leadership toolkit, and professionals who believe equity and inclusion must be central to leadership.

Commitment and Structure

The Institute meets once per month from January through October 2026, with each session running 3-4 hours in person. A minimum of 80% attendance is required to earn the certificate.

Instructors

Our instructors are experienced practitioners, facilitators, and community leaders. The final lineup will be announced upon cohort selection and is subject to change.

Is this in-person only?

Yes. All sessions are held in Seattle.

What’s the time commitment?

Sessions are 3-4 hours in length, once a month, in Seattle from January-October

What if I miss a session?

80% attendance is required for the certificate; please notify GSBA staff if you must be absent.

Director of GSBA Training and Consulting

Toraya leads GSBA’s Training and Consulting programs, helping small businesses and community leaders build skills in financial planning, grant readiness, and sustainable growth. She is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+, BIPOC-, and women-owned businesses through practical tools and resources.

With more than 25 years of banking and leadership experience, Toraya brings a wealth of knowledge in financial acumen, strategy, and community engagement. She is also an active voice in civic leadership, serving on advisory committees and boards across Washington.
