Recently, GSBA welcomed Morgan Romero (She/He) into a new role as the Scholarship and Education Fund Support Specialist! In this new role, which started with a jump-start during 2024’s Immersion Weekend, Morgan will support the Scholarship team, working to create responsive resources and programming for our student scholars and manage our amazing GSBA volunteers. Morgan brings with her ten years of experience in the world of education and non-profits, backed by a master’s degree in Museology from the University of Washington and specializing in data and evaluation.

“For me, having a data-forward organization means using data as a way to intentionally listen to our audience, giving them a seat at the table to inform the decisions we make every day and ensuring our resources and programs speak directly to their needs.”

Morgan grew up in Florida where she experienced first-hand a lack of representation, understanding, and support for queer youth. When she and her partner moved to Seattle nine years ago, they felt immediately at home in the city’s progressive, community-forward culture. Morgan hopes to provide scholars and the wider GSBA community with the same sense of unity and support that she experienced upon arriving in Seattle.

“Community is essential to every human’s health and well-being, yet we live in a time where there is a deficit of community. I am excited for my work with GSBA to show our commitment to leading with compassion, creating opportunities for like-minded individuals to come together, and offering the support we all need to thrive.”

Outside of work, Morgan is an avid gamer, whether it is video games, board games, or roleplay games like Dungeons and Dragons. She has two cats, a mother and son duo named Idun and Kreacher. She also loves to craft and can often be found getting a few rows of knitting in at her desk between tasks.

Welcome, Morgan! We’re thrilled to have you on the team!
