When the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade shook the nation, it highlighted the harsh realities of restricted reproductive rights. Jeff and Paula Pyatt, Friends of GSBA members and frequent supporters of the GSBA Scholarship & Education Fund, were deeply moved by this shift, and felt a pressing need to address these newly imposed barriers. Driven by their passion for justice, they founded Access Walk, a dedicated initiative supporting local organizations that provide safe abortion services.

Together with their two daughters, Jeff and Paula covered all operating costs for Access Walk’s inaugural year, ensuring that every dollar raised went directly to supporting essential services. Then with fundraising and community support, the first Access Walk in 2023 was a remarkable success, raising over $100,000 for Cedar River Clinics. This year, Access Walk will also benefit Lilith Clinic, continuing their mission to support key organizations in reproductive health.

What makes Access Walk special is that it’s more than just an event—it’s a community celebration. Whether you’re walking solo or with a team, or simply stopping by the beverage garden, your involvement helps raise crucial funds and shows your support for reproductive rights. The event promises a lively day with a vibrant opening ceremony, an engaging walk, and a fantastic after-party featuring live music and vendor booths.

Join us for the 2024 Access Walk at Volunteer Park in Seattle on Saturday, September 14th:

  • 2:00 PM: Registration Opens: Check in, pick up your packet, enjoy DJ Flux’s tunes, explore the Beverage Garden, browse merch and vendor booths, and snap some photos at the photo booth.
  • 3:15 PM: Opening Ceremony: Kick off the event with a warm welcome from our speakers and emcee.
  • 3:30 PM: Walk Begins: Hit the track and help raise funds for safe abortion services!
  • 4:45 PM: Final Lap: Celebrate with the Rainbow City Marching Band.
  • 5:15 PM: Closing Remarks & Celebrations: Reflect on the day’s success and enjoy the festivities.
  • 5:45 PM: After Party: Keep the celebration going with drinks, live music, and more.
