KeyBank, Urban ArtWorks and GSBA Unveil Community Mural at Capitol Hill Branch

New public artwork celebrates opportunity, inclusion, belonging and financial empowerment for all in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood

SEATTLE, WA — November 2, 2026 — KeyBank, in partnership with Urban ArtWorks and the Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA), today unveiled a new community mural at the bank’s Capitol Hill branch. The public artwork celebrates opportunity, inclusion, belonging, and financial empowerment for all while reflecting the energy, diversity, and creativity of the Capitol Hill community. Community members, local leaders, project partners, and supporters gathered for a special unveiling ceremony at the branch located at 321 15th Ave. East in Seattle.

The mural is part of KeyBank’s ongoing commitment to investing in neighborhoods and supporting initiatives that create meaningful local impact. Designed to reflect the energy, diversity, and creativity of Capitol Hill, the project brings together community, business, and arts partners to create a lasting public space that inspires connection and belonging.

Following a competitive open call throughout King County, led by Urban ArtWorks, a robust judging panel representing community, arts, and business stakeholders selected Glynn Rosenberg to design and create the mural. The artwork was chosen for its ability to reflect the project’s themes and celebrate the unique character of the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

“At KeyBank, we believe thriving communities are strengthened when local voices, organizations, and partners come together in the spirit of inclusion and belonging for all,” said Brian Marlow, KeyBank’s Washington Market President. “This mural represents more than public art. It is a visible investment in the neighborhood and a celebration of the people, culture, and creativity that make Capitol Hill such a vibrant community. Through our partnership with Urban ArtWorks and GSBA, we are proud to help create a welcoming space that reflects our shared values of access, opportunity, and connection for all.”

Urban ArtWorks brings 30 years of experience engaging youth, artists, and communities in the creation of public art throughout the region.

“We are excited to partner with KeyBank and GSBA on a project that centers community voice and artistic expression,” said Amanda Hashagen, Executive Director of Urban ArtWorks. “Public art has the power to transform shared spaces and tell meaningful stories about who we are. This mural reflects the energy, diversity, and resilience of Capitol Hill and stands as a lasting example of what can be achieved through community partnership.”

The unveiling celebration brought together community members, local leaders, project partners, and supporters to recognize the completion of the mural and the collaboration that made it possible. Speakers shared the inspiration behind the artwork and highlighted the importance of investing in public spaces that foster connection, belonging, and community pride.

“Capitol Hill has long been a center of creativity, resilience, and community for our region, and this mural celebrates that legacy,” said Ilona Lohrey, GSBA President & CEO. “GSBA is proud to partner with KeyBank and Urban ArtWorks on a project that shows how business, arts, and community can come together to create spaces where everyone feels welcome. Investments like this strengthen the neighborhood and the small businesses and people who make it thrive.”

Through partnerships like this, KeyBank continues its commitment to supporting programs and organizations that strengthen communities, expand opportunities, and create welcoming spaces where everyone can thrive.
