Welcome Yanna Fernandez, GSBA’s New Scholarship and Education Fund Administrative Assistant
GSBA welcomes Yanna Fernandez (she/they), to the team as our fabulous new Scholarship and Education Fund Administrative Assistant!
Yanna moved from Olympia, WA to Seattle in 2023 as an aspiring musician and GSBA Scholar and is now graduating from Seattle Pacific University (SPU) with a double major in Music and Communications. She comes from a place of passion for supporting upper education students, in part because of the support she has received through the GSBA Scholarship Fund. While she dabbles in singing jazz and writing R&B tunes, her true passion is in data management and finding new opportunity for upper education and workforce scholars throughout Washington State.
As Yanna grew throughout their upper education, she developed interest in international student admissions, study abroad experiences, managing data and application systems, and communicating directly with students and community members. Receiving a full tuition scholarship from SPU and being a GSBA Scholar granted opportunities for her to develop their professional skills within non-profit organizations and upper-education spaces.
Yanna is ecstatic to join the GSBA Scholarship & Education Fund to support in expanding the program to its full potential, one spreadsheet and email at a time.
“It’s definitely a full-circle moment for me to go from being a scholar to a staff member, and I couldn’t be happier to give back to the community who believed and supported me through my education and career.”

Yanna can be found with an iced matcha in hand with headphones plugged in, working on her next original song. If she’s with friends, you can hear their laugh echo from (literally) miles away.
Reach out to them at ariyannaf@Thegsba.org if you’d like to learn more about the GSBA Scholarship Fund as a scholar, volunteer, donor, or community member.
